The Report discusses the supply-demand dynamics of the Power sector across temporal horizons and concludes that the future is bright. Further, the future is bright green, with renewable additions, which reached a crescendo in the past 12 months set to dominate the next decade. This will alter regional dynamics, as significant additions take place in the North and South, leaving a key demand centre – the West, dependent on imports. Accordingly, an increment to the transmission network, with the West as a node is in the offing, with lofty targets set for Mar’27 and Mar’32 requiring a fillip. These plans will also consume a sizeable capex, to fund which a holistic combination of debt through banks, FIs, and bonds, and equity from promoters, the Government, monetised assets (through InvITs) is needed.
