2025 could be seen as a year of consolidation for the Indian power sector. After years of blazing growth, power demand settled during the year owing to monsoon-induced cool weather, subdued export activity, and the high base of the previous years. Nevertheless, capacity additions continued unabated, particularly in the solar segment. The Report highlights the need to complement these with expansion in conventional energy sources and storage systems. Further, there is a need to solve ground level issues which are hampering effective generation, with a special focus on the transmission network. Commenting on these developments, the Report offers a view for CY26 as well.
