Report on Energy Storage Systems_Nov’24: Storage Ability for Grid Stability

The Report expounds the role of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) in maintaining grid stability in times when the share of variable renewable energy (VRE) is set to see an astronomical rise. It propounds ESS as essential to deep decarbonisation and energy security. It posits that two technologies shall play a key role in the next decade: BESS which could play a leading role, with PSP giving support. Delving into the challenges of building their respective ecosystem, it discusses the imperative of indigenisation and minimising project costs, also highlighting the role of proactive policy in ameliorating some of them. Finally, it gives an overview of the titanic funding requirements, and presents how the funding landscape could view this opportunity
